Yet another weird SF fan

I'm a mathematician, a libertarian, and a science-fiction fan. Common sense? What's that?

Another Way to Produce a Double Take

The title text of the xkcd: Collecting Double-Takes starts:

Fun game: find a combination of two items that most freaks out the cashier.
I recommend: chlorine bleach as the first item and Lysol Power Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Rust & Lime Remover as the second item.

ObSF: Lucifer's Hammer by Niven and Pournelle, in which poison gas could be created from household chemicals.

I don't think I've ever met a cashier sufficiently lacking in ignorance to be freaked out by that combination.

While leaving a pharmacy recently, I noticed they were selling the version of Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner with bleach and the version with hydrochloric acid. A pharmacist just might know enough for a double take, but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to troll.
