A Nasty Thought about “Pickup Artists”
In today's society, being a pickup artist is not, evolutionarily, selected for (as XKCD puts it). The pickup artists are currently competing for the opportunity to beget the piles of shredded tissue in an abortionist's dumpster.
This could cause a decline in @sshole genes.

The McArdle article is the most massive instance of sour grapes I've ever seen. "Who cares if nobody wants to pick me up? I bet those guys are all really faggots or something!"
Anonymous, were you aware McArdle just got married?
Sour grapes seem not to be involved here.
"I had to settle for a dweeby 'beta male' -- but those guys are all faggots or something!"
In accordance with the traditional blogospheric technique of pulling assertions out of the vulgar body aperture, I'll point out that one of the characteristics of being a dominant male is being willing to attach your name to something.
In any case, the McArdle--Suderman marriage looks like a clear instance of assortative mating. A libertarian journalist married, of all people, another libertarian journalist.
Why, Joseph. That was so well put that it took me a couple of readings to get it.
Not saying that the shoe fits, but the reason I don't post under my real name is that my present employer has made it clear that he doesn't want to see my name on the Intertubes.
Though I suppose the fact I let myself be bullied into changing my online practices pretty much proves I'm not a dominant male, and so supports your point.
It hadn't occurred to me that there was more than poster here concealing a real name...
What bothers me about PUA/game is that it's not actually about sex. If it were about sex they could all just swing. No, it's the competitive aspect, where women are just objects to be used to score points against other men.
Because that's what attracts me: a guy who objectifies me so he matters to the other real people, the other men.
