Are Superpowers Next?
Studies of the children born in glowing part of the Ukraine have interesting results:
Even if this should turn out to be the product of the Russian/Ukrainian edition of The Weekly World News, that's simply another reason why the WWN's reality is superior to the one I'm stuck in.THE Chernobyl nuclear disaster has spawned a generation of mutant super-brainy children.
Kids growing up in areas damaged by radiation from the plant have a higher IQ and faster reaction times, say Russian doctors.
They are also growing faster and have stronger immune systems.
I'm reminded of Children of the Atom by Wilmar H. Shiras.

Hm! The only Shiras story I've read was his classic "In Hiding." I'll have to look into these.
If I remember correctly, "In Hiding" was the first chapter of Children of the Atom.
The radiation effect doubtless also explains why Los Alamos school children score well above average on college admissions exams.
